Quality Jobs + Investment Tax Credits
Publication revised September 24, 2026. Sourcebook page 224.
Credit amount / calculation
Greater of 2% per year of qualifying investment or $1,000 per new employee for five years, plus Quality Jobs structure.
Business fit and eligible activity
Very large manufacturers can combine Quality Jobs with enhanced investment/job credits. Qualified investment or approved project activity; confirm eligible property, location and taxpayer type.
Illustrative business benefit
A sawmill invests $1.20 million in qualifying production machinery. At 2%, the nominal credit is $24,000 before annual caps, tax-liability limits, carryforward rules, or negotiated adjustments. The company should isolate eligible machinery from buildings, vehicles, land, and other costs that the statute does not treat the same way.
Timing / first action
Seek approval before starting the overall project, including site work or construction. Contact the administering agency and secure the required approval before the project is publicly or contractually committed.
